Loyalty Never Matched in IT Company

After a long gap because of hectic work, I forced myself to write a blog. This is all about the Loyalty of the employees and the treatment from employers.

My siblings and many of my seniors in the office had advised me several times, NOT to Love the Company. Love only your work(And many of you would have heard this). I never took this serious or even cared about it. But in the recent past, I saw in real time how my friend(colleague-Senior Software Engineer) have been cheaply relieved from my concern.

It's not just one case. But this have happened to many others in several companies. I am not writing this since he is my friend. But just wanna share this as many of us doesn't even realize the Other face of the employer. YES this is true.

I know about his technical stuff and attitude right from my previous concern. Just to describe him in short, good human with sound technical knowledge. He always handle things polite and in a very professional and diplomatic way. He had worked and developed crucial projects for my current employer with putting lot of extra efforts. He took up the responsibility of delivering my current employer's first major project and delivered it successful. Instantly he got many appreciation mails and rewards for that.

He lost his goodwill with the concern at the time of appraisal. And the employers were NOT able to get his extra efforts. Employers started implementing rules like work timings and e.t.c which were never before implemented. But he(my friend) often used to be late to office, and he has NO good reason for this(But works more than 9 hrs a day in an average). As a result, the goodwill between the employee and employer got ruined further. He opted out and got good offers. Finally the company issued him a relieving letter without a company logo or header on that. Also they purposefully mentioned the following statement in his relieving letter. "Worked as a part of Development Team as Developer(Company Title: Software Engineer from 01-01-2009 to 31-12-2009 and Senior Software Engineer from 01-01-2010 to now)".But the actual fact, his role was Team Lead. They sent an another separate e-mail about his behaviors in the office which was SO silly and cheap. Whatever may be the reason, this is really a BAD way to relieve a resource.

Now the point here is, the loyalty shown by an employee for an employer is never matched or even respected. Never work, sacrificing your time with family, friends and your interests, as they were also part of your life.
Try to follow the famous saying "Work while you work and Play while you play."

Also make sure to allocate time for self learning or training. If it's an eight hours job, try to allocate at least half an hour to 1 hour for your self training. That will help you a LOT than working more than 12 hrs for your employer(seeking or anticipating just an On-site or better appraisal). Don't get emotionally attached to the concern. Just to remind you, you are yet another employee to them.

But it doesn't mean, you should not work all the time. Manage your time efficiently and work smart. Actually this inculcates the habit of being perfect with smart work. Plan your tasks, and work concentrated. Even this yields you a good respect.

Having all these said, I too had made many of these mistakes in my career. But mistake makes the man perfect. Nowadays I'm trying to free myself and being cautious, NOT to repeat the same mistakes in the future. Planning to be in at office by 9.30am, work efficiently and to be out of office at 6.30pm.
