My Niece and Nephew

Let me first introduce them here to all. RIDHI my niece and PRANAV my nephew. As kids were so mischievous in their own way, these guys were no exceptions from them.

Ridhi acts like so calm girl but NOT really. Her smile and eyes are the best. Her world consists of her mom, dad and grandma. But whenever I enter their home, she weeps for at least half an hour, thinking that I am a stranger and gonna share space with her world. I often get her some toys or dresses and till now, she has NOT got any of them from my hands. But after half an hour, she will stop weeping and will start to play with the toys.

This is the most convincing act I will do. I will start their car and put it in reverse gear. She walks down towards the door steps and I will pick her from there. She thinks me as a driver for their car. Then she will start commanding me to start the car and take her for an outing. I will do so. She will stand in my lap and will start enjoying the sight seeing. She will keep her hand on the steering and will start thinking that she is driving the car. That will be the happiest moment for her(also for me).

To say about Pranav, this guy would be highly talkative as my younger sister used to do. He will say something or the other that we could never understand. He will be so active and busy with chewing something in his mouth. He never stays in a place. If I play with him for 15 mins, thats it. I am done for the day. I will get tired as I would have done 15 minutes of gymming.

To make him calm, I will turn on the laptop and play the "Vaaraan Vaaraan Poochandi"(A famous Tamil song for kids) video from Youtube. They have smoothly mixed the song with the Lion King animation movie clips. But even here, he will be jumping into the keypads with full enthu to press something on the other. If I restrict him from doing that he will start shouting at me.

This is the worst part he did, but I enjoyed it very much. He took my phone and started to roll it over the walls thinking its a hotwheel toy and by God's sake my phone screen was covered with scratch guard. And Ridhi is no way less than him. She took my sister's cell and dropped it into tumbler of water. She continuously dropped the cell in and out for some time and by the time my sister realized that it was her cell phone, she was too late.

Kids were always special. Both of them have some common characteristics. Once I tried to remove her T-Shirt as it was wet, she wanted to remove it by herself. She desperately tried to remove the T-Shirt for more than 45 minutes. I was watching her keenly! In-between she never gave up or got tired of it. Also she was not allowing even my sister to come near her. And finally she removed her T-Shirt off and started crawling towards her barbie.

I was wondering how she did that. She didn't know that she has done something great for her age and took it so simple and normal without any pride. This was one such moment, I realized I had learned something from them. Challenges has to be faced with your best efforts, and achievements will follow you. Also NOT to allow the achievements to go into your head and move forward to take up the next challenge. I always personally feel that kids were good source of motivation and inspiration.

And finally, I have seen many times my sister and my mom used to sing some songs like "Laali laali, Aararo" while they were trying to make Pranav sleep. Once I tried the same to make him sleep. From that day, he seems to show a keen interest in getting away from me when I sing, but I think that is because of the bad acoustics. Kids have good memory too.
